In celebration of the International Day of Forests, Pan Asia Banking Corporation PLC organized a special tree planting event through its Committee for Sustainability, reaffirming the Bank’s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and green advocacy.
The event was graced by the presence of the Bank’s Director/CEO, members of the Corporate Management Team, the Sustainability Committee, and officials from the Viharamahadevi Park Office and Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).
Marking the official launch of Tree Planting Week, the Director/CEO and members of the Sustainability Committee symbolically planted two rare and ecologically significant trees: the Lignum Vitae and the Candle Fruit Tree. Known for their unique characteristics and rarity, these species were carefully selected to promote biodiversity and draw attention to the importance of preserving indigenous and rare flora in Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the event, the Director/CEO Naleen Edirisinghe emphasized the vital role financial institutions can play in driving sustainable practices:

By planting these trees today, we hope to inspire continuous action for a greener future.”
Pan Asia Bank’s Sustainability Committee continues to spearhead initiatives that align with national and global goals for environmental protection, including reforestation, reducing carbon footprints, and promoting sustainable business practices.
